Michele Abercrombie is an independent photo editor. Her past employment includes The Wall Street Journal, NPR, and Carnegie-Knight News21, where her work on the juvenile justice system earned the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Journalism in 2020. Projects like Season’s End: This Ripley Life—a photo series exploring childhood and economic hardship—and Nature Abhors a Vacuum, a short film on childhood trauma, are examples of her approach to personal, socially conscious storytelling.
Michele graduated from Syracuse University with a M.S. in Multimedia, Photography and Design and from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.A. in English Literature. Michele is an alum of the Kalish and Eddie Adams workshops.
