
Daniel Owen
Daniel Owen is an award-winning documentary photojournalist and director of photography with over fifteen years of experience in the field. His work has been featured in publications around the globe, including the New York Times and the Washington Post, amongst many others. He was a contributing speaker for the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s “Voices on Anti-Semitism” series following his work with Auschwitz survivors in Eastern Europe.
His work focuses on documenting subcultures, traditional practices and religion and he holds both a Bachelor of Science in Photojournalism and a Master of Arts in Visual Communication from Ohio University’s renowned School of Visual Communication.
Owen served as Director of Photography for the Los Alamos National Laboratory where he led a team of content creators at the premiere scientific laboratory in the world before moving to Transylvania with his wife and three children. Prior to relocating abroad, he worked for respected newspapers throughout the U.S., including the Palm Beach Post, the Colorado Springs Gazette and the Hartford Courant, where he covered everything from daily news, to presidential campaigns to stories of python hunters in the Everglades. Owen taught Picture Editing and Lighting at Ohio University’s School of Visual Communication and has been recognized by the National Press Photographer’s Association, College Photographer of the Year, the Society of Professional Journalists, amongst others for his work.
